Why International Buyers Are Ditching Google — The Real Reason Your Website Traffic Is Dropping

I realized buyers have changed how they find companies during a casual meeting when a buyer said, "Actually, I saw you on LinkedIn first," instead of our website. In Rinda's internal platform data, we noticed that LinkedIn and B2B platforms have become the primary touchpoints for buyers, surpassing direct website traffic.

When a buyer told me, "Actually, I saw you on LinkedIn first" during a meeting, I was honestly taken aback. They didn't find us on our website.

🔍 I started tracking the data after that—looking into our buyer touchpoint metrics (something we discovered while testing inside the Rinda platform), I realized that since the second half of last year, referrals from LinkedIn and B2B platforms have become significantly more common than direct website traffic.

💡 This means your falling website traffic might not be an SEO issue. When a buyer wonders, "Is this company legit?" they scan LinkedIn before Google. If there’s no content there, they just skip you. This is an observation I’ve made, and other export sales professionals seem to feel the same way.

📊 As a result, we rewrote our LinkedIn company profile in the buyer's language and committed to posting once or twice a month. The tone of our inbound inquiries has changed since then. When we ask, "Where did you hear about us?" the answer is almost always, "LinkedIn."
